Currently a New York-based writer, editor, and consultant, I have worked in publishing and production for more than 15 years. Having edited many books in-house, I know publishers’ expectations for delivering a completed manuscript as well as each step of bookmaking. My years in book packaging at becker&mayer!, where I developed and sold proposals to publishers, gave me unique insight into how best to shape an idea into a sellable finished product. My experience at the advertising and graphic design firm Office highlighted the significance of branding and positioning—as well as fine-tuning design and visual assets—to achieve the desired impact for a book’s final audience. 

In addition to working on more than 25 books, I’ve also run the test kitchen of the vegan meal-kit company The Purple Carrot, reporting to Mark Bittman. In 2017 and 2022, I judged the cookbook awards for the James Beard Foundation. I’ve also edited articles for Cook’s Country magazine at America’s Test Kitchen.
